There have been lots of music concerts this year. In Jakarta, there were thirty to fifty concerts this year. Quite a large sum for the city.
As written in earlier posts, Jakarta musical scene has also explored many new, contemporary music. Music is indeed moving forward.
But as I stated earlier in this post, presenting and focusing more on contemporary music is going to victimize other music styles. It came clear that this phenomenon has reduced baroque music performance. Yes, we are losing baroque music.
This is absolutely not the fault of contemporary music, nor its advocates. This is merely because people, musicians and listeners, are less willing to let go other musical styles, especially romantic music.
